Tips for cleaning the oven in the best way
Cleaning the oven is important because we cook in it, in addition, it lasts longer. Here we have gathered the best tips to get a shiny clean oven.
The kitchen has sometimes been described as the heart of the home. If it's that way, then maybe the oven in turn is the heart of the kitchen. For many, cooking is a great interest and daily use means, of course, that an oven must also be cleaned as part of the regular deep cleaning. We have compiled some tips and housewife tricks to facilitate your oven cleaning.
Oven cleaning
An oven gets dirty and submerged all the time by using it. There is so much good food that can be cooked in an oven, so you use it often.
The best thing you can do is get in the habit of cleaning the oven often. The dirt and grease that does not have time to adhere too hard is of course the easiest to remove with a damp cloth, soap and lukewarm water.
How often should the oven be cleaned?
It is recommended to clean the oven thoroughly every three to six months. But dry the whole oven even more often if you use it several times a week. Depending on how ingrained the dirt is and what type of oven you have, there are different ways you can clean the oven.
Clean the oven with soap and warm water
Cleaning the oven with soap and water is a real classic and good for both the environment and the economy. Soap is also a little more environmentally friendly than chemical cleaners. However, if you have an allergy to pine, it may involve a risk of allergic problems.
To clean the oven with soap, start by smearing it completely with a cloth or sponge. Set the oven to 100 degrees, as soap becomes more efficient when heated. Let stand so the soap can work for fifteen minutes when the oven has reached temperature.
Turn off the heat, open the door and let the oven cool down. Then easily clean the oven by wiping off all the soap with a clean sponge and lukewarm water.
Risks with this method
If you do not wait until the oven has cooled down, there is a risk that you will burn and if ingrained dirt still remains, you can clean the oven with something that scrubs more efficiently.
But then also remember to be extra careful so that you do not scratch the surface of the oven.
Clean the oven with bicarbonate
Sometimes you are recommended a housewife tip to clean the oven with baking soda, but it is bicarbonate that is meant. If you do not have bicarbonate at home, baking soda will work well as an oven cleaner, but you will have to mix in a little more to get the same effect.
What you do is mix bicarbonate with water to get a paste. You should mix approximately equal parts water and bicarbonate. Use a brush to spread the pasta and smear the oven.
Given that you often need to use the stove during the day, you can apply the batter in the evening and let it work overnight. A tip that makes your entire oven cleaning more efficient is to spray vinegar on the batter.
After it has seemed clear, you will see how easily you can wipe the entire oven with a cloth.
Clean the oven with vinegar
An old housewife's tip is to use 24% vinegar as a way for the oven to be clean. Pour vinegar into an ovenproof bowl and set the bowl in the oven. Preheat the oven to 50 degrees.
Then leave the bowl of vinegar in the oven and let it work. Turn off the oven after about an hour and 30 minutes. Vinegar is a natural acid that both kills bacteria and cleans a really dirty surface effectively.
Set a kitchen timer to keep track of time. When the oven has cooled down, a tip is to take the help of soap and water again and remove the dirt that has come off with your vinegar.
Oven with burnt dirt
Of all the methods and methods, mixing bicarbonate and vinegar is probably the most effective way to clean the oven with burnt and ingrained dirt. Sometimes, however, the way it is required to clean is simply to rub away burnt or ingrained dirt.
There are many specially designed means for cleaning an oven. It is then important to use rubber gloves and have good ventilation, when cleaning with strong agents and warm water.
There are several simple kitchen sponges with a rough surface that cleans very effectively. But ovens today are easily scratched by hard materials.
Clean the oven door
Cleaning the oven door is slightly different from other ways of cleaning the oven. It must be kept clean and fresh to be able to see into the oven. You need to be careful not to scratch the glass, as dirt and bacteria will be harder to get rid of.
For that reason, the easy way to get rid of dirt on the oven door is probably the method of bicarbonate or baking soda along with vinegar.
Finishing with a little newsprint or a dry cloth makes the surface finely polished.
Clean the oven door between the glasses
There are oven doors with two glasses, the outside can be removed. Read the information about your particular oven so that you can safely and securely remove, clean and then replace the oven door again. Glass doors can be soaked, pour in a little detergent and leave to work with hot water for at least 30 minutes.
Cleaning of oven grilles
Oven grilles can be really tough to keep clean because they have some nooks and crannies, which are difficult to access with a damp cloth or sponge.
Easiest to clean an oven rack, is by soaking in a large tub or in a spacious sink. Fill with warm water and mix in a few drops of detergent or soap.
Lay down the oven rack and let stand for as long as needed but at least 20 minutes. Once the dirt has dissolved, just clean the grille, then let it dry and put it back in its usual place.
Clean the oven plate
The best thing you can do to keep your oven plates nice and fresh for a long time is to dry or wash them after each time you have used them. However, the time is not always enough after you have cooked or baked and the simple truth is that the plates often go back into the oven without cleaning.
When it's time to wash the oven plates, it can be a challenge, but the methods that dissolve dirt in your oven also work great to get your plates clean. After you have had the oven at 100 degrees, it is important to let the oven plates cool so that they are not hotter than 50 degrees before you clean them.
Wash oven plate in dishwasher
A dishwasher is not adapted to handle hard-burnt food, so for a good result, the oven plate can only be slightly dirty. The amount of water and electricity needed to get one or two plates clean means that it is always better to get them clean by hand.
Self-cleaning oven
To avoid having to scrub the oven yourself with bicarbonate or soap, there are so-called self-cleaning ovens that clean with the help of pyrolysis. They have a built-in program that heats the oven to 500 degrees, after which the dirt burns and comes loose.
This method also works well when the oven is really dirty. Allow the oven to cool when the program is ready and then wipe off with a damp cloth or sponge. After that, the oven is clean again.
Safety above all
It may sound simple and easy, but since the oven gets very hot, you need to make sure that neither children nor pets are in the vicinity. You should also not leave the home due to the risk of fire if something should happen.
Not all oven grilles and plates are adapted for this method of getting the oven clean, so also pay attention to it or empty the oven completely and clean these separately when using pyrolysis. A big advantage of the high heat is that you do not have to use any strong agents that can create an unpleasant chemical reaction.
