Tips on how to make a bed

When it comes to bedding, it has long been in with slightly wrinkled linen sheets and bedspreads draped sloppily but neatly over the bed. Which of course gives an inviting impression. A trend that is now starting to take over, however, is to make a bed as luxurious as in a hotel. With our step-by-step guides, it has never been easier to make the bed both quickly and professionally.

Hotel bedding - step by step

Making a continental bed or so-called hotel bedding is easier than you think. Just follow our tips below and you can go to bed with the same luxurious feeling you get in a hotel.

1. Mattress - Not everyone has a mattress topper but if you do, you should turn it every day.

2. Headboard and headboard - If you don't have a headboard and headboard, feel free to invest in it to get the right feel. Also keep in mind that you can usually change a headboard to match the colors you want at the moment.

3. Sheets - Mangle or iron the sheets so they are smooth. Place your fitted sheet evenly on the bed, stretch it firmly and tuck it under the mattress.

4. Quilt/quilts - Choose one large quilt rather than two single quilts. Today, there are also many models with duvet covers for double duvets. Pull the cover down towards the foot end and tuck it in properly. Start with the sides and then fold under the foot itself. By pulling down the cover slightly, you can fit the pillows up by the headboard.

5. Sleeping pillows and decorative pillows - You then place the sleeping pillows against the headboard. Then place decorative pillows in matching colors in front of them. You can either have an even number or finish with a single pillow at the front.

6. Blanket - Do not spread the blanket over the entire bed as in a traditional bedding. Fold the bedspread and place it flat at the foot end, then fold over part of the comforter.

7. Details - Feel free to place a plaid at the end of the foot as the finishing touch.

Airy romantic bedding - step by step

We mentioned at the beginning that linen sheets have long been a favorite and many who have once slept in them cannot imagine anything else. The sheets may be a little stiff when new, but they get nicer the more you use and wash them. So how do you make a bed in a romantic way? Just follow the steps below.

1. Bed cap - Just like with hotel bedding, we can recommend that you use a bed cap

2. Sheets - Do not iron or iron linen sheets, they should be wrinkled. But stretch the bottom sheet so it's smooth.

3. Blankets - Feel free to use several thicker blankets to get a fluffy feeling. Place over the quilt tucked into a lovely linen pillowcase. However, do not tuck it under the mattress, but let it hang down over the edge of the bed.

4. Blanket - For this bedding you don't need a bedspread if you don't want to, but the linen sheets are beautiful as they are.

5. Pillows - Create volume with pillows at the head end, this also applies if you have a headboard. Feel free to combine and match with different colors.

6. Details - Throw a plaid or felt a little carelessly at the end of the foot as a final detail.

For display or just for your own well-being

Keep in mind, however, that it is recommended not to pull the bedspread over immediately when you get out of bed. Air out the bedroom and leave the bed for a while before making the bed to reduce the risk of mites.
